Jackals in Koshi Tappu Wildlife Resurve Nepal

    Jackals are in Canine family, (Canidae), also called canid,. They are likely a cross between a German shepherd and a fox. They have the fox like small face, delicate legs and fluffy tail, with the German shepherd's long, highly alert ears.  Jackals are medium-sized omnivorous mammals.

    The Indian jackal scientific name 'Canis aureus indicus', which is also named as common jackal, Asiatic jackal, Himalayan jackal or Golden jackal.
    The jackal’s body length varies from 70cm to 80cm and it grows up to 40 cm tall at the shoulder, its weight being between 8kg to 11 kg. The males are generally big in size than the females and both are have svelte bodies, long legs designed to pursue the prey. Jackals are keen sense of hearing to detect the movement of prey as well as to steer clear of humans.
